About Me

Sierra Lyons is an audience engagement journalist and reporter based in Brooklyn, NY. As an audience journalist, she consistently considers the needs of people who get their news primarily through non-traditional formats such as social media, vertical video, and newsletters. She is adept at translating trending topics and conversations into colorful storytelling that goes beyond the obvious and centers those most impacted by policies, yet often left out of mainstream news. As a reporter, she has covered the intersection of faith, justice, race and education for Teen Vogue, New York Magazine, Huffington Post and Scalawag Magazine, among others.

Most recently, she was the 2025-2026 audience fellow at The 19th News, where she produced over 500 social media posts and regularly compiled overnight and early-morning trends into social-first stories and pitches for the newsroom’s reporters.
